Various reasons have made us decide upon a partnership with the BPC. The BPC’s activities cover fields such as sports, social activities and activities for the Young. In addition this is a mature, but dynamic organisation. As such our partner perfectly fits the framework that was set out for this sponsoring project.

Another factor was the timing: PSA wanted to enter an engagement for 5 years. Hence the motto ‘From Paralympics to Paralympics’.

The BPC does more, however, than organising top-class sport for the disabled. Through her Flemish and Walloon branches, of which PSA will work with the ‘Vlaamse Liga voor Gehandicaptensport’ (the Flemish branch), the BPC supports clubs and their operations for disabled athletes on all levels.

On an annual basis PSA provides a minimum budget of 25.000 euros for the BPC. We also connect our logo with that of the BPC: on the website, in brochures and on other documents.

During this partnership PSA supports the BPC not only financially. PSA and it’s employees, as a team, follow the activities of the BPC and the performances of their athletes with great interest.

Moreover, our employees also get the opportunity to acquaint themselves with the different sports and support the partnership through volunteer work.

A number of initiatives in this matter have taken place in the past:

08/03/2009 PSA and the BPC decide to join forces for the Antwerp 10 Miles. Paralympic athletes and PSA-employees will run to the finish together. A joint training session takes place.

24/04/2009 A team of 5 PSA employees goes to Ghent to participate in the BPC’s first wheelchair basketball tournament. The BPC invites all sponsoring partners to play challenge each other on the court. PSA wins the tournament and takes the ‘Best BPC Company’ home.

26/04/2009 After the training session, it’s time for the real work. Over a 160 PSA employees join paralympic athlete Frederik Van den Heede for the Antwerp 10 Miles. PSA even turns out to be the fastest company this year.

08/05/2009 – 09/05/2009 Antwerp hosted the annual Belgian ICP Swimming Tournament. PSA has asked employees to volunteer during the weekend, help out where necessary. More than 20 people have signed up to help.

15/05/2010 A volunteer of PSA Antwerp supports the organization of the Open Belgian Championships Wheelchair Dancing, an event which was particularly successful.
